Wow Mama! You have unearthed a mother load. My Mother sang. She sang when she was upset. I mentioned this to my younger sister a few years ago. She immediately realized that I was right yet had never realized. I look back with loving admiration for a mother who was smart, beautiful and put my father on a pedestal yet she was worthy of much more. I so wish I could tell her.
You are the best always. My grandma used to sing and hum and sort of waltz around the house. When I think back to the things she carried and lived through (and honestly my mom too) I wish I would have told her how much I admire the hell out of her. I try to do it now w/ my own mom but I dont know if she’ll ever really feel how much I adore her. You are a true inspiration too!
This is fascinating and strikes so many chords. When I look back to my childhood and think of the crap my darling late Mum put up with because it was what she was expected to do. And certain things she would say, that probably came from her mother ( Victorian ladies ) the one that makes me smile and actually is so sad was referring to sex( ew Mum and Dad!) and was to lie back and think of England!
