I love this so much. Read it twice and will read again and again. I think we bonded first over a shared eye roll and now I’d walk on hot coals for you.
“ It’s not like elementary school, where you bond over matching pencils and recess drama. Now? It takes real effort. And courage.” This is my favorite line because looking back it was trading cards, pogs, or who had the coolest gel pens🤣
I’ve always been one for deep connection as I don’t do surface level and small talk well. My circle is very small but I’m so fortunate because it’s mostly made up of badass women who aren’t just extremely talented in what they do, but life overall instilling morals and values, raising families, and just being inspiring. Success doesn’t mean money in my book as to be successful comes in shapes of all sizes.
You are one of those real people and love how you’re breaking all of this down telling it like it is, the good, bad, and ugly giving a voice to those who feel small or hold back for fear of what people might say or consequences. Keep going, you’ve got this guy in your corner!
I absolutely love this blog. I feel so lucky to have met you years ago at work. Then a fun time outside of work, and reconnecting reminded me why I loved you so much! Thank you for reaching out when I’m down and for being an inspiration ❤️. Quality will always win over quantity, and your friendship is quality! Can’t wait to make more laugh lines when we are in the same city!
So lucky to know you and have you in my life!! And reconnecting has meant so much to me too. Always here for ya -- and we are quality 100%!! Bring on the laugh lines, lady!! I am here for them all!! XO
I lost my close friends a few years ago, due to something stupid I said. One of them just passed away and the others invited me to attend the funeral. But I guess amends are out of the question. All people I’ve met since leave me missing these ones even more.
I’m tired of posers, who pretend their lives are perfect. We know that no one has the perfect life, why can’t we be honest and open? And forgiving of one another’s shortcomings?
You have yet to meet your next crew. They can be hard to find. You can put yourself out there - join a hiking meetup, or just maybe you reach out to some old contacts and you will find one you had all along?
With due respect to Charlie Bauman and his triangulating entities, I call these acquaintances. I have 3 real friends. These are the ones that I know, without a doubt, that if I were anywhere on the planet and needed help - I call them and they would be there. Anywhere. Anytime. Those are friends. Those are the three that I celebrated my birthday with last night. There’s a difference. As you say, the rest are background noise.

💯 and right back at ya - any day of the week and no matter what for xo
"This is the season of intentional, mutually energizing bonds." Yes it is. Love you Angela!

Thank you Angela, that means a lot.

You bet! And 100% agree with you - nothing is perfect and you said it - honesty and openness and forgiveness win!
